I hope you and your family are doing well, and are having an enjoyable and relaxing summer break! It has been quite a while since we have been in school and I want you to know that we have missed our students immensely. We are looking forward to seeing them at the start of school on August 5.
As a parent of an elementary student, I have many questions regarding how school will look for my little girl come August. I am sure that you and I share the same concerns. My purpose in writing you today is to help ease your mind and give you information so that you may make an informed decision regarding your child’s safety and education.
The safety of our students and staff is the number one priority of Clay Community Schools (CCS). Much time has been devoted this summer to developing a plan to safely reopen our schools in August. I encourage you to access the Clay Community Schools website and click on the CCS Roadmap Information Tab. Here you will find the CCS 2020-21 School Year Roadmap. Our goal is to open school as normal, but as you will see in the roadmap, we have planned for enhanced eLearning as well. CCS is also offering a virtual academy platform as an option for students. As you know, there is some learning loss that occurs over a typical summer break and we have great success addressing this issue. We have a plan to address learning loss that may have occurred from last spring and we are confident we will catch our students up and make great gains this school year.
If you have not registered your child for school, our school office will be open beginning July 27, 2020. You may register between the hours of 9:00am and 2:00pm. You may also register through the Clay Community Schools website. Please email me at email@example.com or call my office at 812-986-2177 with any questions or concerns you may have about the coming school year. We may have many unknowns ahead of us, but I can assure you that WE will get through them together. I look forward to seeing you and your children in August!
