My name is Heather Bailey. I currently teach English 7 and English 9 at Clay City Jr. /Sr. High School. I am a graduate of Cloverdale High School and Indiana State University. I started my career in Special Education and performed duties in a variety of elementary schools in the county and then ended up at Clay City. I taught special education students for ten years at Clay City Jr. /Sr. High School. I then received my license to teach English to middle school and high school students, which I have done for three and a half years. I am also the theater director at CCHS and have directed four shows. This past year, my creative writing class wrote the play that we performed. It was titled When Life Gives You Lemons.
I currently live in Brazil, Indiana with my husband Greg. We have been married for one year. We have two dogs and three cats. In our free time we enjoy a variety of activities including going to plays and concerts, rooting for the Colts or Cubs, reading, watching movies, fishing, gardening and creating things with my Cricut machine. In the summertime I also work part-time as a YMCA camp counselor. I typically work with children in third or fourth grade to help them retain skills that they have learned throughout the year.
As a teacher, it is my personal goal that every student find success within themselves. I enjoy watching my students grow academically and socially throughout their high school careers. I do my best to engage students in my lessons and to make them think about the world around them. I hope to instill in them a curiosity that makes them life-long learners.
